Here's how
For the caramel and apples:
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp HelloAmino Golden Milk Latte mix
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
For the cake:
- Cooking spray
- 1 bag HelloAmino Cinnamon Pancake mix
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup Fairlife 3% milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the whipped cream:
1 cup whipping cream
10 tbsp or heaping 1/2 cup HelloAmino Protein Icing mix
1 tsp vanilla extract
To make the caramel apples, melt the butter, sugar, vanilla, golden milk latte mix and cinnamon over medium heat in a skillet. Add the apples and cook, stirring occasionally for about 2 minutes or until thick and bubbly.
Line a 9 inch round cake pan with parchment and spray the sides and bottom well with cooking spray.
Pour caramel apples into the bottom and set aside.
Preheat over 350
To prepare the cake combine the dry ingredients in one bowl and the milk, eggs, vanilla in another, mixing well. Add this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Slowly mix in the melted butter until fully combined.
Pour batter over the apples and bake for approximately 50-55 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool at least 15 minutes before flipping over.
For the protein whipped cream, combine all three ingredients together and beat until thick. Add more protein icing if needed for desired sweetness.
Once the cake has been flipped, slice into 10 pieces and top with protein whipped cream.
Best enjoyed warm. To store, wrap well in plastic film and store in fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave before serving for best texture.
